PLUMMER — It was a tough start to North Star League play for Clark Fork girls basketball as the Lady Cats were taken down by Lakeside 54-25 on Saturday.

The Knights (5-2) jumped on Clark Fork early outscoring the Lady Cats 16-4 in the first quarter.

It didn’t get any better in the second quarter and Lakeside took a 32-11 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Clark Fork was able to hold the Knights to 22 points in the final 16 minutes of action but the Lady Cats offense continued to sputter allowing Lakeside to secure the victory.

“We play really good and sound basketball but we’re just having a really hard time getting the ball into the basket,” Clark Fork head coach Jordan Adams wrote in a text. “Once again awesome looks, pretty good defense but we cannot buy a shot for our lives.”

Seniors Ellie Kiebert and Abbie Anderson and sophomore Katelyn Matteson each scored 6 points. Kiebert also had 10 rebounds and five steals and Matteson added eight rebounds and six steals.

The Lady Cats are winless through five games this season.

Clark Fork returns home to face Noxon at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
