Bollywood dancing classes available to youth, adults starting next month

Youth ages 5-12 can enjoy four weeks of fun and energetic dancing using the dance style from the blockbuster movies of India, such as the 2009 Academy Award winning film “Slumdog Millionaire.”

The dance is a mixture of numerous styles including belly-dance, Kathak (Indian traditional dance), Indian folk and various western modern and popular styles such as jazz.

Class is held Tuesdays, Jan. 7-28 from 3:30-4:15 p.m. at Community Hall (204 S. First Ave.). The cost is $36 ($4 in-city discount available). A minimum of four participants is necessary to offer each session. Preregister online by Jan. 3 at sandpointidaho.gov/parksrecreation.

A six week class is also being offered to teens and adults. This class will be held Sundays, Jan. 5-Feb. 9 from 4-5 p.m. at Community Hall as well. The cost is $59 ($4 in-city discount) and a minimum of four participants is needed to offer each session. Preregister online by Jan. 2.
