PROUDLY WE SALUTE

Pfc. Johnny Lawson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lawson, Sandpoint, is stationed at Gottingen, 100 miles from Frankfurt, Germany, with the 48th Transportation Co. of the U.S. Army.

S/Sgt. Doug Ward arrived home to spend a holiday leave with his wife and children, Jimmy and Michelle. He will return to Thailand, where he has been stationed the past six months.

Janice A. Evans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Evans, Dover, graduated after ten weeks of basic training at the U.S. Naval Training Ctr., Bainbridge, Maryland. The Wave, a former SHS graduate, will spend a 14-day leave with her family before reporting to U.S. Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, Maryland.

Mrs. Bert Bopp has been confined to bed with a complication of troubles the past few days.

Mrs. Al Derr and two sons will spend the Christmas vacation on their ranch at Clarksfork.

NORTHERN PACIFIC EMBARGO LIFTED

An embargo on all lumber shipments east promulgated a week ago by the Northern Pacific railway was lifted today. The embargo was called as a result of the coal strike and the cold wave, but was lifted by the N.P. immediately with the stabilizing of the strike and weather conditions. The Great Northern embargo is still in effect.

LIEUT. SOLBERG HOME ON LEAVE

Lieut. Arthur Solberg of the U.S. navy is home on leave to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Solberg, (620) Third ave. The lieutenant said it felt good to be in civilian clothes, though he says the navy is the only life.

NEWS FROM BUNGALOW

Milder weather with considerable snowfall is prophesied for the weeks following with no more severe weather until the middle of February, when a cold spell of a short duration is scheduled. Wonder if that is Gospel truth?
