Michael Eugene Ellsworth

| July 13, 2019 1:00 AM

Michael Eugene Ellsworth passed away suddenly at home in Sandpoint, Idaho, on July 9, 2019.

Michael was born to Joseph Ellsworth and Karen Chase on June 20, 1951, in Fort Ord, Monterey, California. Michael grew up with his two siblings, Pamela and Marty Ellsworth. They lived in various locations in California, as his father’s timber job locations would change; the Ellsworth family found Nevada County home. As Michael got older, he resided in Grass Valley, California, and worked at the Bohemian Mill for Sierra Pacific Industries for 25 years. He married Fern Ellsworth and they brought his daughter, Devon Ellsworth, into the world in May of 1990.

In 1993, Michael moved his family to Sagle, Idaho, and started his business F&M Muffler shortly after they arrived. He was known throughout Bonner County as “The Muffler Man,” part of which was because he had built a muffler pipe man that stood in front of the shop for all the years it was open. He closed his business doors in 2013 and retired after 20 years.

Throughout his retirement he continued to work on cars and doing projects with one of his best friends Kevin at his shop in Sagle. He eventually started another small business called Steel Dreams, where he made metal art out of anything he could find including nuts, bolts, washers, gears, railroad spikes, and much more. Michael was very talented and artistic; he created many requests that people had and gifts for friends and family.

If Michael wasn’t working, tinkering in the garage, or making metal art, you could probably find him riding his motorcycle. He loved riding, whether it was by himself, or with a group of friends. He also enjoyed taking Sunday drives any day of the week, coffee at the airport, fixing little things for anyone in need, dinner with friends, and spending his days with his love Anne Alexander.

Michael leaves behind his daughter, Devon Ellsworth; her boyfriend, Matt and his three daughters, Kaleigh, Ella, and Jozie; daughter Katie Menne, her husband Matt, and three children Logan, Hunter, and Addison; daughter Jamie Brown and her two sons Phoenix and Miles; his love, Anne Alexander; his mother, Hannelore Ellsworth; his sister, Pamela Lee and her husband Kenny; his step-siblings, Heidi, Lisa, and Steve; many nieces and nephews, and cousins; and his many close and dear friends.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Ellsworth; and a brother, Marty.

In lieu of flowers or donations, Michael would want people to do something he enjoyed in his remembrance. Michael would’ve also like peopled be kind to one another, and embrace your loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held for him at Sandpoint Eagles Lodge, located at 1510 John Hudon Lane, Sandpoint, on Sunday, July 14, from 1-3 p.m. All of his family and friends are welcome.

Family and friends are invited to sign Michael’s online guest book at coffeltfuneral.com.

Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
