'Big' things ahead for your entertainment options

SANDPOINT — What a week we have in store — concerts at DiLuna’s café and the Panida, Northwest WineFest all weekend at Schweitzer and the Dude returns in digitally remastered glory as The Big Lebowski hits the big screen of the Panida Theater.

Lovers of local music will be fully satisfied, as every pub, lounge and watering hole of any persuasion in town is featuring live music. Looking ahead into next week, Bridges Home travels a few miles west for a pair of dinner concerts near Newport, Wash.

Lots of treats, here’s the deets:

Thursday, July 18

‘The Big Lebowski’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7:30 p.m.

The masterpiece digitally remastered. Jeff `The Dude’ Leboswki is mistaken for Jeffrey Lebowski, who is The Big Lebowski. Which explains why he’s roughed up and has his precious rug peed on. In search of recompense, The Dude tracks down his namesake, who offers him a job. His wife has been kidnapped and he needs a reliable bagman. Aided and hindered by his pals Walter Sobchak, a Vietnam vet, and Donny, master of stupidity.

Leigh Guest

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 8-11 p.m.

Singer-songwriter Leigh Guest, originally from Sacramento, is now touring the Western U.S. as she presents audiences with a mix of original music and cover material that spans mostly country and singer-songwriter artists. Her influences include Guy Clark, Gillian Welch, Joni Mitchell and Townes Van Zandt.

Admission: Free for those 21 and over.

Brendan Kelty

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6-8 p.m.

Brendan Kelty has roots in Rustbelt sensibilities, Western North Carolina tradition, and the Pacific Northwest wilderness spectacular, Brendan Kelty has cultivated a soulful sound drawn from gritty travel, wilderness living, and personal relationships; simple real and honest.

Friday, July 19

Tony Furtado & Luke Price

Venue: DiLuna’s Cafe, 207 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner served at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Tony Furtado, an acknowledged master of many different styles and sounds, appears with Luke Price on fiddle. Relix Magazine said of Furtado’s music, ‘True talent doesn’t need categories.’ From bluegrass to blues, from folk to rock, from banjo to slide guitar, his music knows no boundaries.

Thom Shepherd & Coley McCabe

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7 p.m. meet and greet, concert starts at 8 p.m.

A meet-and-greet with the musicians and the artwork of Kelly McGuire before the show at 7 p.m., and an evening with these hit songwriters starting at 8.

Red Blend

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 8 p.m.

Red Blend is an artistic blend of soul, pop, blues with a great bouquet of party time fun featuring Meg Turner, Chris Lynch and Brian Jacobs. Three longtime truly crushing it performers of Sandpoint teaming up to put the best spin in your party.

Admission: Free for those 21 and over.

Brad Keeler

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301, Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

Brad Keeler is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, composer, and interpreter of vintage music.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

DASH

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9-midnight

Founded in 2018, DASH began writing songs together with a passion for getting people out on the dance floor. The Bozeman band brings their dance party vibe with a wild blend of funk, soul, rock, and pop.

Admission: Free for those 21 and over.

Bright Moments Jazz

Venue: Eichardt’s Pub & Grille, located at 212 Cedar St.,

in Sandpoint.

Time: 7-10 p.m.

A great collection of musicians in Sandpoint’s own pub. Go for it.

Ron Kieper Jazz Trio

Venue: Idaho Pour Authority, 203 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-7 p.m.

Saturday, July 20

Northwest WineFest

Venue: Schweitzer Mountain Resort

Time: noon-7 p.m.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort’s Northwest WineFest is a great summer getaway for the entire family featuring a full weekend of wine tastings, live music, delicious food and outdoor fun. Discover an ever-expanding array of regional wines, while the kiddos zip line, test their climbing skills, and more. The chairlift will be running for scenic views at the top, so make plans to be on the mountain.

Music by Casey Ryan, The Copper Children and Sparkle throughout the day.

Admission: Overall event is free and open to the public. $25 for stemless souvenir wine glass with 6 tasting tickets (2 oz. each); Additional tasting tickets are $3 each. Lift Tickets - $15 foot traffic and $35 bikes.

Venue: Sandpoint Farmers Market, Farmin Park, Third Ave. & Oak St., downtown Sandpoint.

Time: Market starts at 9 a.m., music from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (remember those?), this band is just plain amazing. Enjoy their spectacular sound as you groove your way through the market.

Bright Moments

Venue: Trinity at City Beach, 58 Bridge St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6-9 p.m.

When this Sandpoint ensemble takes the stage, you can always expect great tunes and good times.

Larry Mooney

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

Local favorite, Larry Mooney, will perform on Saturday, July 20th. Larry offers a wide range of styles from 60’s British Pop to Latin rhythms and everything in between.

The DIGaddie

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Ian and Dinah Gaddie will be playing their blend of music inspired by blues, jazz, Americana, and psychedelic rock. They have guitar driven music that will get your feet moving with laid back bluesy grooves and spiked funky jams that get the good vibes flowing.

Moneypenny

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m.-midnight

Moneypenny is an award-winning Missoula high energy Blues/Rock quartet formed in 2015, and led by Christopher Gray, originally from Memphis. Gray brings his Beale St. influences, singing lead and combining a unique rhythmic style and blistering lead guitar.

John Firshi

Bridges Home dinner concert

Venue: Circle Moon Theatre, located on Highway 211, 3 1/2 miles north of Highway 2, near Newport, Wash.

Time: Doors at 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m. dinner service, concert starts at 7:30 p.m. (Also on July 27.)

From rousing pub-style favorites to lilting ballads, Tami Belzer Gunter & Dave Gunter are dual lead vocalists and multi-instrumentalists who will make the rafters ring with a fun mix of Celtic, Americana roots and original music.
