| July 31, 2019 1:00 AM

Robert G. McCracken, 82, passed away at his home in Newport, Wash., on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.

“Bob” McCracken was born in Fort Peck, Mont., to Robert and Ann McCracken on April 11, 1937. While attending high school, Bob met June Bennett in Santa Monica, California. They later married in 1957. Together they had three sons.

In 1969, he and the family moved from the big city to rural Laclede, Idaho. There, he introduced his boys to life on the farm and many outdoor hobbies.

He worked as a sheet metal, heat and air installer. He was known as the “Tin Man,” which inspired the name of his business. Bob’s special interests included falconry, four-wheel driving, hunting, fishing, archery, reloading, and target shooting. As a master falconer, he’d hunt with birds of prey. He belonged to the Woodside Motocross Brushrats Club. He owned and loved riding his mules and became a member of the North Idaho Saddle Mule Club. He took pleasure in watching his granddaughter, Ashley, race horses. He was very proud of his 33 years of sobriety, during which he helped many people and made lifelong friends.

Bob is survived by his former wife, June; his sons, Jeff, Steve and Dennis (Margo); his six grandchildren, Jessica, Cody, Ashley, Erica, Brandon, and Elizabeth; his great-grandson, Elijah; his brother, Brent (Linda); two brothers-in-laws, Tom and Bill (Lola); his niece, Teri; and loyal companion, T-Bone. He will also be fondly remembered by many beloved friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ann; his father, Robert; and his sister, Wanda.

Bob’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. at Pine Ridge Community Church, 1428 W. First St., Newport, Wash.
