June 6, 1969 – FLUTE SOLO
Entertainment at Class Day exercises at Sandpoint Senior High included a flute solo, “Ave Maria,” played by Miss Antonea Venishnick, a member of the graduating class. Mrs. Joe Venishnick was accompanist for her daughter.

KOOTENAI GRADUATES 17
Kootenai School graduated 17 eighth grade students on June 2. Kootenai Principal George Phillips presented diplomas to Kathryn Brown, Eleanor Broncheau, Jeanne Buhr, Russell Frances, Linda Holbert, Frank Inman, Pat Keane, Linda Murray, Paul Ostrum, Jeanne Saunders, Dorene Stutzke, Nancy Tompkins, Dale Van Horn, Ellen Van Rossum, Wayne White, Jeannie Willford and Jewel Willford. After graduation and a reception line, refreshments were served.

PAT ROGERS HEADS JR. WOMAN’S CLUB
New officers of Sandpoint Junior Woman’s Club are Mrs. Pat Rogers, president; Mrs. Terri Jacobson, vice president; Mrs. Jo Ann Tinsman, recording secretary; Mrs. Esther Park, treasurer; and Mrs. Sue Austin, corresponding secretary.

BROWNIES TOUR NEWS-BULLETIN
Lincoln school Brownie Troop 402 with leaders Mrs. Tinsman and Mrs. Carol Pietsch, recently toured the News-Bulletin, with editor Gary Pietsch describing the operation to them. Brownies were Ruth Tinsman, Kim McCandless, Merri Gay Bostock, Brenda Piehl, Vickie Yount, Betty Miller, Lea Weatherford, Lisa Olson, Anna Marie Brewer, Gwen Crosswhite, Lorna Ayers, Sue Compton.

Andy Benson will go through on the N.P. to Montana this week and will stop off for a few hours to see the little daughter who arrived at his home since he went to Washington in April.
The Wideawakes met at the schoolhouse Saturday and will meet every three weeks.
Ole Peterson has finished seeding.

TAKES ON SIDEWALK QUESTION
At Monday’s meeting the city council decided the sidewalk situation in Sandpoint was serious enough to warrant taking full power and authority into their own hands, and ordered all plank walks from Boyer avenue east to be rebuilt of concrete. The ordinance covers only areas with plank walks now. No new walks are contemplated and those already laid in concrete will be undisturbed.

EUREKA CLOSED BY SHERIFF
Sheriff Spoor last evening closed the Eureka hotel, corner Church and Fourth, declaring it a public nuisance. Much complaint has been made against the place recently as a booze-joint and two robberies were reported there recently. The building was formerly called the Frey building.
