Donations sought for fireworks show

PRIEST RIVER — Independence Day is less than a month away and the Priest River Chamber of Commerce is seeking the community’s help to ensure fireworks light up the skies on the Fourth of July.
A successful Picker’s Day added more than $482 toward the community fireworks celebration. In addition, raffle tickets are being sold for $5 for a fireworks bundle donated by Rocketman Pyros that worth $300 with proceeds going toward the show. The raffle drawing will take place at the chamber’s June 25.
For those whose name is not drawn, a second bundle of fireworks, also valued at $300, will be auctioned at the chamber meeting.
All help and donations ill be apreciated, chamber officials said.
“Businesses in Priest River have been kind enough to put collection boxes in their business and collect for us, we cannot rely on the contents to cover the expense by any means,” Anne Sweetman, chamber board secretary, said in an email to community businesses. “We thank them for their help.”
With the revitalization of downtown Priest River underway, and while it will be beautiful when completed, Sweetman said foot traffic in the area has been impacted because of the construction.
“The chamber board is reaching out to local businesses and all of our members asking for support for the chamber and the 4th of July fireworks. Please consider donating to the chamber to make sure our community fireworks are able to continue. “
As of this week, Sweetman said the fund is still $4,000 short for the fireworks show.
Spare change cans are available at area businesses in Priest River to collect cash donations. Cash and checks can also be mailed or dropped off at the chamber office, 119 Main Street, Suite 102, in Priest River during office hours Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To give online, go to squareup.com/store/priest-river-chamber-of-commerce.
