Agnes Ann Gallagher Irving, 87

Agnes Ann Gallagher Irving, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Kootenai, Idaho, on June 13, 2019.

She was born to Patrick and Susanna Gallagher on July 26, 1931, in Grinnell, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm in the small town of Brooklyn, Iowa.

She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1948.

After marrying a naval man, she had the opportunity to travel the country far and wide, living in many places such as Florida, Califor-nia, Virginia, Pennsyl-vania and Hawaii, before making Sand-point, Idaho, her home in 1972. She loved traveling and seeing all the wonderful places in the country.

After moving to Sandpoint, she worked at the Pastime Cafe as a cashier and then at the local grocery store Inks and Geno’s. Finally she worked at the Edgewater Lodge as the night auditor for many years, until she retired at age 76.

She was a past member of the Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed watching baseball and NASCAR, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by daughter, Christine Irving of Sandpoint; a son, Michael Irving, of Kootenai; sister, Leota Schwers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.; granddaughter, Elise “Ellie” McClain and her daughters Tasha and Bella; grandson Jason Houghton; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children in Iowa and California. She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.

There will be a celebration of life in Iowa this fall.
