Spend 'Thursday in the Garden'

SANDPOINT — If time, square footage, or inexperience are keeping your family from planting a garden, you are invited to join other families at “Thursdays in the Garden” (formerly called Garden Club) at the Sandpoint Library.
Each week kids and their families can support the success of the new library garden while enjoying a gardening project of their own. The library garden serves to educate the public and benefits participants and the community with its fruitage.
Thursdays in the Garden is geared for kids aged 6-9 with projects relating to the garden season and plant cycle. Families are encouraged to participate together and should wear weather appropriate clothing. Shade and drinking water are provided. Each week, a new topic will be explored along with some “gardening time.” Families can qualify to earn a metal watering can by attending multiple sessions.
“Learning about planting, growing, and harvesting teaches kids where their food comes from. It gives them a new appreciation for nutrition, finances, and the environment,” Said Suzanne Davis, Children’s Department coordinator.
