Parks and Rec offers Family Forest Fun

| June 23, 2019 1:00 AM

Sandpoint Parks and Rec and the Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness is sponsoring this program to help anyone get the most out of hiking and camping experiences.

This program is not only a comprehensive review of common and largely preventable problems encountered in outdoor activities, but also an opportunity to brush up on safety skills with a certified Red Cross wilderness first aid instructor.

Be sure to bring first aid kits to learn how to update them for the outdoors.

The class teaches the latest on animal encounters, lightning strikes, severe bleeding, dehydration, and hypothermia; knowledge of plant and tree identification; and information about wild animals through hands on with skulls, antlers, fur pelts and more.

The class will take place at Lakeview Park Picnic Shelter (801 Ontario) on Saturday, June 29 from 1--4 p.m. This activity is free and open to all ages.

To register, either visit Sandpoint Parks and Recreation’s web catalog at www.sandpointidaho.gov/parksrecreation, or visit the office located at 1123 Lake Street.
