Lakes Commission agenda is packed

PRIEST RIVER — The Idaho Lakes Commission’s March 28 meeting agenda is deep enough to require chest waders.

The meeting is set for 9 a.m. at the Priest River Events Center. The board will hear presentations on the following topics:

- 9:15-9:30 a.m. — Andy Dux of the Idaho Department of Fish & Game will discuss future fisheries management direction on Priest and Upper Priest lakes

- 9:30-9:45 a.m. — Dux will update the board on an experimental walleye harvest angler incentive program on Lake Pend Oreille

- 9:45-10:10 a.m. — Chip Corsi, the Panhandle’s regional director of Fish & Game, will update the commission on a proposal to siphon cold water from the lake to aid downstream fish populations on the Priest River

- 10:10-10:35 a.m.— Logan Osgood-Zimmerman of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will provide an update on Albeni Falls Dam operations

- 10:35-11 a.m. — Joel Fenolio, a former Army Corps official who is now with the Bureau of Land Reclamation, will give a presentation on operations at Hungry Horse Dam

- 11-11:40 a.m. — John Carlson and Jayson Tymkno of PacWest Silicon will address the board regarding its smelter proposal south of Newport

- 11:40-noon — Public comments, questions and announcements
