In response to board revisiting asphalt plant ruling:

I hope those concerned by the proposed asphalt plant, in Sagle, will speak out. I would like the county commissioners to consult with EPA Region 10 for their advice on the matter.

Given that the asphalt plant would be located on the top of Southside Water and Sewer District’s aquifers, which provides for over 220 homes, I’m very concerned.

Hydro-carbon, found in asphalt, is heavier than water. If the asphalt isn’t contained properly, and hydro-carbon contaminates the aquifers this pristine water source will forever be ruined.

I believe in small businesses; I own one myself. Creating jobs is important, especially for our small community. I’m not an expert on asphalt or aquifers. However, I think the potential risk associated with building an asphalt plant over a critical water source, is far too great.
