Tell WBCSD that the answer is still no

| April 25, 2021 1:00 AM

On March 9 of this year, voters in the West Bonner County School District 83, voted no on the district’s proposed tax (levy). WBCSD83 apparently does not understand that no means no. WBCSD83 will be putting the tax (levy) back on the ballot. Soon. Just two months after being told no the first time, we will be asked to vote again, on Tuesday, the 18th of May. WBCSD83 wants a tax of more than $6.8 million dollars for a 24-month operating period. That’s $6.8 million in addition to the money received from all other revenue sources.

Economic times are tough. There is the pandemic. There’s Biden, along with his comrades in Washington, D.C., who have instigated policies increasing gasoline prices dramatically. And, the people currently running Washington D.C., will soon be introducing legislation on the largest federal tax increase in decades. Perhaps, in a generation.

WBCSD83 should concentrate the finite and limited resources available for public education and our kids’ future, to critical educational core areas like economics, government, math, science and truthful world history. Leave the “extracurricular” activities to family, and church.

The money well is drying up, WBCSD83. Our kids’ future requires development of life critical knowledge and skills, that will make them employable young adults. Not the frills.

On voting day, Tuesday, May 18, the answer will still be no.
