SPIRIT LAKE — Across a pair of Intermountain League doubleheaders over the past week, the Priest River baseball team was unable to breakthrough for its first win of the season.

On Tuesday, the Spartans struggled to keep up with Timberlake, dropping two games by a combined score of 24-2.

Everett Hannah recorded two hits across the doubleheader, and Coby Rogers, Colton Brooks, Nadin Thompson, Konner Johnson, Landon Reynolds and Kevin Reeves each tallied one.

Priest River headed to Bonners Ferry last Friday for a doubleheader and in the first game the Spartans looked primed to end their losing streak.

After surrendering five runs in the first inning, Priest River continued to battle and trailed 9-7 after the top of the fifth. However, the Badgers scored two runs in the bottom of that inning and held on for an 11-8 win.

Rogers went 3-for-4 in the game and had two RBIs.

Bonners Ferry ran away with the second game 19-7. The Badgers scored 14 runs in the second inning.

Tyson Brooks tallied two RBIs in the game.

The Spartans (0-14, 0-8 IML) travel to Kellogg at 3 p.m. Friday for a doubleheader.

"I'm very proud of how our team fights to the last out," head coach Mark Schultz said. "They continue to play no matter the score. That says a lot about our team. We will keep working to clean some things up and go out and play hard."
