LONG GAME MAKES BASEBALL HISTORY

Threatened but once in 18 innings of baseball, and repeatedly putting their opponents in bad holes, the Humbird-Sandpoint Tigers Sunday battled the Bonners Ferry team for 3½ hours to a scoreless tie. The thermometer was bubbling with the heat, both teams were soaked in sweat and the sweltering humidity began to tell on the teams. At the end of the 18th inning, both managers agreed to call it a day. The longest, hardest fought diamond battle ever occurring in this area, the contest will go down in Inland Empire sports history as a baseball classic.

MINISTER MAKES RECORD SWIM

Rev. W. Wallace, the Kootenai church pastor, swam from Rocky point, near Kootenai, to the sandbar west of Contest point this morning, making the three and a half mile distance in one hour and 35 minutes. He suffered no ill effects from his long swim. Archie Nogle, superintendent of the Kootenai school, accompanied him with a rowboat.
