CUSICK, Wash. — The 2021 Kalispel Summer Slam, a free 3-on-3 basketball tournament, is happening this Saturday and Sunday at the Kalispel Casino parking lot.

The tournament is a collaboration between the Kalispel Tribe Victim Services, Tribal Court and Juvenile Justice Program and Rise Above, a nonprofit from Seattle. The event is meant to promote healthy living for youth and generate awareness and education for violence, and alcohol and illegal substance abuse in the region.

There will be male, female and coed 3-on-3 basketball action consisting of age groups 8 and up. Team registration for the tournament has closed, but spectators are encouraged to come out and support the teams.

Ruthie Bolton, a retired WNBA player and two-time Olympic gold medalist, will be at the event along with Rise Above's co-founder, Jaci McCormack. They will both share stories about their involvement with prevention, violence and building a healthy community.
