Angels ready for annual BTS backpack program

Angels Over Sandpoint member and volunteers are preparing for the group's annual Back to School backpack program.
The Angels Over Sandpoint's Back to School program is distributing backpacks and school supplies in person again this year.
Many parents cannot afford to purchase all of the necessary school supplies each year, especially when they have more than one child in the home, that’s why the Angels Over Sandpoint makes it a priority to assist these families so each child gets to start the school year as prepared as the rest of their classmates.
More than 2,000 students in Bonner County participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch program; these are the students that the group aims to help. School supplies are distributed in Sandpoint, Priest River, and Clark Fork.
The Angels’ goal is for at least 1,000 children to receive school supplies and backpacks this year. This will require approximately $30,000. Community support is vital in reaching this goal. This program is operated by volunteers, 100 percent of the donations we receive go directly to bringing supplies to students in Bonner County.
Families in Bonner County who would like to receive school supplies for their children need to call Community Action Partnership at 208-255-2910 and register their children by Friday, Aug. 20, to receive the details on when to pick up supplies. If you know of any families who struggle provide school supplies for their children please encourage them to call CAP and register their children.
The Angels, in partnership with Staples are thrilled to be able to give out school supplies and backpacks in person this year. The program is made possible by grants and donations from the community.
"The Angels are very grateful for the support," members said in a press release.
The Angels will be following the current recommended COVID-19 guidelines from the CDC while handing out supplies. Please be prepared to wear a mask if necessary.
