LEWISTON — It only took 43 seconds for Sandpoint boys soccer to find the back of the net on Saturday as they rolled to a 3-0 nonleague victory at Lewiston.

Junior Randy Lane scored all three goals for the Bulldogs. Head coach Tanner French said Lane took command of the midfield and showcased his talent.

"I think he was in the right spot at the right time on two of them and the other one was just simply having the will to put a punctuation on the game," he said. "I thought he had a lot of creativity throughout the game which was pleasing to watch."

French said his squad controlled possession for 90% of the game and everyone on the roster got some time on the pitch.

"Today was a joy to be around ... and a good first step in the right direction," he said.

Stirling Roget assisted on Lane's first goal and Roman Jiles had one save in net.

It was Sandpoint's second match of the season and first since Aug. 20. French said that time off helped the Bulldogs and he saw plenty of improvement Saturday.

"Having this entire week to work on some technical team building I think really benefited us," he said.

The Bulldogs (1-1, 0-1 IEL) return home to host Moscow at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
