The Rotary Club of Ponderay Centennial proudly announces its October Member of the Month: Tiffany Goodvin.

“Tiffany is invaluable to the club,” club president Kari Saccomanno said, “To give an example, this fall she solely acquired all the prizes for our Fall Raffle, took the initiative to sell tickets everywhere, arranged tons of peanut butter for the food bank, and ran our booth at Ponderay Days.”

Being new to the area, Goodvin wanted to be more involved in the community. She and her husband, Woody, were invited to “A Night to Remember,” a fundraiser for Community Cancer Services that Ponderay Rotary produced in partnership with the non-profit. Goodvin saw the club in action, piquing her interest. Initially she was attracted to the club’s smaller size, but joined because of the club’s effectiveness in the community.

As a parent, she also appreciated the club’s flexibility with attendance. Goodvin could not always regularly attend the breakfast meetings, yet she learned that at Ponderay Rotary it is more about quality, not quantity. She has been a member for six years now. Currently, Goodvin is the club’s membership chair and a member of the scholarship committee.

As president last year, Goodvin was a driving force increasing the club’s community service projects. She has also been key to the club’s involvement in polio eradication, the youth foreign exchange program, and the club’s Educational Scholarship Program. During her stint as president, the club gave out nearly $18,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors and residents continuing their education.

“We have continued to grow our Scholarship Fund to help students with their education costs, plus our club has touched the lives of many youth through foreign exchanges both here and abroad, and through its involvement in both Sandpoint High School and Forrest Bird Charter School’s Rotary Interact clubs,” Goodvin said.

“I feel like we are starting to get more recognition in the community as a club that can really make a difference.”

Goodvin enjoys all of the club’s activities, but special to her is the Duck Derby at Schweitzer Mountain Resort in April because it is a fun community event and a great location for a fundraiser. It has been canceled the last two years due to the pandemic, but hopefully 2022 will bring it back.

Her two children, Hadley and Davis, are her deepest passions. She is dedicated to giving them the opportunities they need to be independent thinkers, positive and successful. “My husband and I are proud of their common sense, intelligence and good attitudes,” she said.

Goodvin has worked as the safety and health specialist for Kodiak Aircraft Company, owned by Daher, for the past nine years. She serves as the treasurer and secretary for her neighborhood HOA, and is treasurer of the Sandpoint Tennis Association as well. She volunteers at the local schools and her church too. She plays tennis, hikes, cheers for her favorite college team play basketball (Kansas University), and loves lunch with friends. Honestly, the club isn’t sure she ever really relaxes!

What pieces of advice does she live by? “Always say thanks, respect others and their opinions, and don’t take life for granted.”
