3 Wampus Cats claim all-league football honors

Three Clark Fork football players received all-league honors for their play on the gridiron this fall.

Seniors Carter Sanroman and Sam Barnett and junior Nathan Shelton grabbed spots on the all-North Star League/Scenic Idaho Conference football team.

Sanroman was a monster all season long. He had an impact on offense, defense and special teams every game and was the heart of the Clark Fork attack.

His production at tailback proved to be key to the Wampus Cats' success. He led the team in rushing and total touchdowns. This is Sanroman's second straight season earning all-league honors.

"We are really going to miss his leadership and his competitive nature," head coach Brian Arthun said.

Barnett was a stud at wide receiver and defensive back this fall. He brought a tenacity to the gridiron that's tough to match, Arthun said, and led the team in receptions and receiving touchdowns.

"We will miss his speed and toughness on the football field," Arthun said.

Shelton was a force in the trenches. Arthun said he was Clark Fork's best lineman this year and at defensive end he created havoc in the backfield all season long with his relentless pressure. He even returned an interception 26 yards for a touchdown in a home game against Kootenai.

"I really liked the way he played," Arthun said. "He was a great hitter."
