Library district exceeds donation goal

You may remember the library’s article on Nov. 26, informing you of the Friends of the Library donation match running until the end of the year.

I’m now writing to let you know that in these three short weeks, the Library has already blown past its donation goal, thanks to our wonderful community! That means the Friends of the Library will donate the full $3,500 to the library, matching the community.

That money goes straight back to the community in the form of new materials, additional programs and specialized training for library staff to help better serve you.

This is certainly cause for celebration as well as a sincere thank you to the Friends and the community that came out to donate to a cause they believe in. Thank you!

Just because the donation match has been met doesn’t mean you can’t donate to the library. Donating to an educational institution in Idaho can net you a tax credit worth half of your monetary donation, up to a maximum of $1,000 for singles, or $2,000 for married couples. That means you will get a tax break of $500 as a single, or $1,000 if filing jointly.

If money is tight this time of year but you’d still like to help, the Library is also hosting a food drive for the Bonner Community Food Bank. We’re collecting nonperishable items such as canned food through the holiday season and donating it to the Food Bank to help those in need during the toughest time of year.

On behalf of the Library, I’d like to thank the community again for helping us reach this incredible goal. I’d also like to thank the Friends for their tremendous generosity, their boundless support and the vast amount of time and energy they devote to this library. Thank you.
