Royals soar past Lady Cats in Spartan Christmas Tournament title game
PRIEST RIVER — Clark Fork girls basketball was unable to capture the Spartan Christmas Tournament title Saturday night.
North Idaho Christian handed the Lady Cats a 43-13 defeat.
"We started in a 2-3 zone defense so we could shut down the post players because they do most of their scoring," head coach Jordan Adams said, "but I think that slowing down back to a zone from the man we played [Friday in a win over Priest River] actually hurt us. We came out super flat, they weren't real vocal and by the time we threw them into a man ... it was way too late."
Clark Fork trailed 30-4 at the half.
"Had we not struggled offensively in the first half, I think we would have been right in it," Adams said.
Senior Katelyn Matteson scored 11 of Clark Fork's 13 points.
"Katelyn's defense tonight was on-point," Adams said.
The Lady Cats (1-6) head to the Post Falls C team at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6.
