PRIEST RIVER — Clark Fork boys basketball hit the court Saturday for the fifth time in the last six days and came up just short.
The Wampus Cats fell to North Idaho Christian 61-55 in a consolation game at the Spartan Christmas Tournament.
Head coach Heath Beason was proud of his team's effort in the final game of a brutal week, but he said his team was just flat out exhausted.
"We fought hard for three quarters, we just didn't have the legs down the stretch," he said.
The game was knotted at 28-28 at the half, but the Royals outscored Clark Fork 33-27 in the final two quarters.
Sam Barnett finished with 19 points and four rebounds and Carter Sanroman tallied 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Nathan Shelton scored 6 points and Ethan Howard added 5 points and 10 rebounds.
Beason said Barnett and Sanroman kept the Wampus Cats in the game all night long and Howard had a strong outing defensively and on the boards.
Clark Fork (3-6) returns to action Friday, Jan. 7 to host Immaculate Conception Academy at 7 p.m.
