Colm McLaimtaig places 6th at Tri-State Invitational

COEUR d'ALENE — Priest River freshman Colm McLaimtaig captured sixth at 106 pounds during the 50th Tri-State Invitational on Saturday at North Idaho College.

He is the first Spartan to place at the tournament since 2018 when Aaron Reyes took second at 220 pounds.

McLaimtaig won his first two matches by pin, before dropping three straight to grab sixth.

Aidan Troumbley (132) went 3-2 at the event, Caeden McLaimtaig (132) and Bradley Bennett (170) 2-2, Keith Poirier (126) and Matyus McLain (195) 1-2, and Charles Bennett (145) 0-2.

As a team, Priest River tied for 29th with Bonners Ferry and Glacier Peak.

The Spartans host duals with Sandpoint, Newport and Riverside at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
