Lines celebrate golden wedding anniversary

| December 28, 2021 1:00 AM

The children of Bruce (Mike) and Laura Gurney Lines happily announce their parents’ golden wedding anniversary on Dec. 18, 2021.

Laura first met Bruce’s mother, Esther, in 1967, when they worked together at the National Forest Service on East Superior. Esther often proudly proclaimed she picked out her daughter-in-law before Bruce had even met her.

Bruce and Laura married on a blizzard-y day on December 18, 1971, at Sandpoint’s First Lutheran Church. They then followed Bruce’s job to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they lived for eight years before returning to Sandpoint with their daughters and built their home in Sagle. After only a few years in Sagle they moved again, following a job to Seattle, Washington.

Through the years, they returned to Sandpoint as often as they could visiting family, snow skiing and spending long summers at “home” on the lake.

They have been amazing parents to their daughters, Cami (Michael Carris) and Corin (Marat Stary) and wonderful grandparents to their grandchildren, Courtney Carris (13) and Atlas Stary (3).

Bruce retired from the treated wood industry after 44 years, passing his business to Cami. Laura retired from the Renton School District to be a full-time grandma when Courtney was born. Bruce and Laura enjoy spending time between their homes in Sagle and Bellevue, Washington.
