Barrett leads Spartans to tourney win

PARMA — Blake Barrett scored 17 points for the Spartans in a win over the Panthers in the opening round of the Parma Holiday Tournament.
“We came out and were a little flat in the first quarter,” said Priest River coach Jaden Barrett, whose team trailed 18-10 after the first quarter. “We looked flat for an 8 a.m. (pacific) game and our guys weren’t used to that. We picked it up a little bit defensively in the second and third quarter.”
Luke Butler scored 13 points for Priest River (5-3), which faces Teton in the semifinals today at 2:30 p.m. PST.
