Education is an Idaho, conservative value

| December 30, 2021 1:00 AM

The Idaho Freedom Foundation is in the news again advocating for $20 million in cuts to Idaho's universities.

Rod Gramer, president of Idaho Business for Education, an advocacy group, had this to say in the article, “I think it’s very harmful to our state. Not just our business community, but for our future as a state and our economy and our quality of life.”

The article also talks about how Micron Technology, one of Idaho’s largest employers, announced plans to build a new 500-worker design center not in Idaho, but in Georgia. Micron’s CEO goes on to explain that this will give his company an “opportunity to attract technical talent from a large and diverse student population.”

The IFF was behind the decision to refuse $6 million of federal grant money for daycare and preschool funds last year, harming working families across the state. They have demanded cuts at the state level for K-12 funding shifting the burden from high income earners to low income property owners. Now they are going after our colleges as seen in the NIC accreditation prompted by the chaos caused by the IFF backed trustees.

Education breaks the poverty cycle and leads to self sufficiency. Education is an Idaho, conservative value. The IFF does not share our values. Reject their anti-education agenda by electing candidates in the May primary who value education.
