HOPE — Donations to the Memorial Community Center are now being matched up to $25,000 thanks to donations from Craig and Ellen Langel.

Donations are especially important at this time because the center is still facing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, MCC officials said in a press release.

“This generous matching donation gives us an opportunity to make some upgrades to the center and can provide money for enhanced programming and more community events once we reopen,” officials said in the release. “It can also help us start a reserve fund for the future success of the center.”

The center is a home to many community events and programs, including AA meetings, fitness classes and a knitting group and a preschool.

“We are so thankful to Craig and Ellen Langel,” according to the release. “[It] will give the center a jump start in these difficult times to provide a space for people to meet, hold events, disseminate information and encourage community. Our preschool can continue to make a huge difference in the lives of our children and programs such as scholarships and Christmas Giving can be sustained.”
