Sandpoint man killed in accident

DOVER — A Sandpoint man died as the result of injuries he received in a Friday evening car crash near Dover.

Idaho State Police said that Jon D. Briggs, 28, was driving a 1999 Lincoln Continental westbound on Pine Street about 5:43 p.m. when he drove across the eastbound lane and off the shoulder of the roadway near the intersection with Syringa Heights Road.

The vehicle hit a culvert, which caused it to roll, ejecting Briggs, who was not wearing a seatbelt.

Briggs was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

ISP said an investigation is continuing.
