SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Police are investigating a report of counterfeit bills being circulated in the community.

Sandpoint sandwich shop Mr. Sub posted to its Facebook page on Wednesday that a counterfeit $100 bill turned up at their store on Tuesday.

"We were hit last night. Let all your friends with businesses know," the social media post said.

The post has been shared 278 times.

Sandpoint Police Chief Corey Coon said the Mr. Sub report is being investigated, but it was not clear on Thursday if bogus bills had turned up elsewhere in the community.
