Slow start dooms Lady Cats in loss at Wallace

WALLACE — Clark Fork girls basketball couldn’t get much going offensively in a 46-16 loss at Wallace on Thursday night.

The Miners outscored the Lady Cats 19-7 in the first half to cruise to a season sweep.

Wallace beat the Lady Cats in Clark Fork 62-23 on Jan. 12.

After beating the Post Falls C team on Dec. 16 33-16, the Lady Cats have lost eight straight games.

Clark Fork scored just two points in the opening quarter.

Sophomore Emily Myers led the team with five points. Freshman Eloise Shelton had three points, four rebounds and two steals, and Paige Valliere, Grace Yancey, Lily Reuter and Breezy Fournier each scored two points. Valliere also had a team-high six rebounds.

Junior Katelyn Matteson did not play in Thursday’s game.

Clark Fork (2-11) travels to Priest River at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. This will be the third and final meeting between these two teams this season. The Spartans won 33-26 on Dec. 11 and 57-28 on Dec. 18.
