Bullpups dominate district track meet

COEUR d'ALENE — The Sandpoint Middle School track team dominated the district track meet held on May 13 at Lake City High School.

The Bullpups' eighth grade boys and girls each captured first and the seventh grade boys also took home the team title.

The eighth grade boys ran away with the team title, beating out second-place River City Middle School by 52 points. Henry Barnes led the way with a pair of first-place finishes in the 100 meter dash and long jump. He was also third in the 200.

Isaac Vermeer claimed first in the shot put and discus. Luke Wykoff secured second in the long jump and third in the 110 hurdles, and Glenn Paddack was second in the shot and third in the discus.

Andrew Lehman grabbed second in the 400, Wyatt Burnett earned third in the shot and Brady Newhart took third in the high jump. The boys were first in the 4x100 relay and third in the 4x200.

Betti Travers and Hannah Fisher placed first and second respectively in the shot put for the eighth grade girls. Madison Hall notched second in the 100 hurdles and Lilly Barajas was third in the long jump. The girls won the 4x200 relay.

Isaac Schmit won the 100 and 200 and anchored the first place 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams for the seventh grade boys.

Jeramiah Palmer did it all for the Bullpups. He was first in discus and shot put, second in the 400 and third in the 200. Callahan Waters captured second in the 1600 and Kai Longanecker nabbed third in the 800. Eli Tucker took third in the 100.

The SMS seventh grade girls team got a standout performance from Reese Burnett. She tied for first in the high jump and was second in the 100 hurdles. As a team, the girls finished in a tie for third. They also took first in the 4x200 relay.

Eight middle schools from around the area participated in the season-ending meet.

GIRLS 7TH GRADE
