Biden takes "tax and spend" Dems to new level

| June 20, 2021 1:00 AM

I am writing in response to the "My Turn" opinion that appeared in the paper (June 13, 2021) written by Sylvia Humes. Ms Humes, we live in a constitutional republic in the United States, not a democracy. Yes, leaders are elected in both cases, but in a constitutional republic, elected leaders are directed by the constitution. In a democracy, once elected, the politicians can do whatever they want. Do you see the incredible foresight of our Founding Fathers?

You obviously hate Donald Trump, and characterize him  as a narcissistic would-be dictator. I would like to point out the accomplishments of our current president. Hundreds of thousand of illegal aliens pouring across our border, and when apprehended, must be housed and given medical treatment, to the tune of billions of dollars. And this is just one of his accomplishments. Trillions in debt, at a level never before seen. The phrase "tax and spend dems" has taken on new meaning. The politicization and thus corruption of the Department of Justice under Merrick Garland, who wants to "oversee" election audits and determine what can be released to us, the citizens of the United States.

If you think that asking citizens to show identification is somehow a heinous burden that discourages voters, you must supply evidence, not just make a broad-based statement. People have to have identification to drive, buy alcohol, and in some states marijuana. They have to have identification to buy cigarettes. If they want to do something, and it requires identification, people get identification. It's simple.

And really, Ms. Hume, what you are doing is disparaging anyone who does not agree with your political beliefs.
