19U North Idaho Lakers cruise to sweep of St. Maries

SANDPOINT — The class A North Idaho Lakers were dominant on Tuesday.

The 19U squad cruised to a pair of North Idaho League victories over St. Maries at War Memorial Field, allowing just three hits and one run during the doubleheader.

In the opener, the Lakers scored nine runs in the fourth inning en route to a 16-1 win over St. Maries.

Zeke Roop went 3 for 3 with three RBIs, and Everett Hannah and Kody MacDonald each notched a pair of hits and RBIs.

Jack Ringer started on the bump and struck out three over 2 1/3 innings while allowing just two hits and one run.

The Lakers continued to pour it on in the nightcap, earning a 21-0 win. Avery Bocksch, Hannah and Trevor Brackett teamed up for a combined no-hitter over five innings. The trio recorded 10 strikeouts.

Hannah tallied three hits, and Conagher McCown, Mick Koch, Ringer and Roop each had two. Bocksch drove in four runs while Koch brought in three.

Across the series, the Lakers (7-9, 5-3 NIL) racked up 26 hits.

The team will head to Montana to play in the Libby Big Bucks Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The class B Lakers were also in action on Tuesday. They traveled to Spokane for a doubleheader with West Valley.

The Lakers demolished West Valley in the first game, recording 16 hits in a 27-3 rout.

The team exploded for 14 runs in the top of the fourth inning. Cole Sanroman and Chase Sanroman combined for five hits and eight RBIs. Coleman Inge went 2 for 4 with four RBIs.

Jorden Tyler tossed five strikeouts over three innings while allowing three unearned runs.

In the second game, things got a lot more interesting. West Valley jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but the Lakers scored six runs in the fifth inning to tie the game at 7-7.

The Lakers nearly scored the game-winning run in the sixth, but the game was called after that inning and the contest ended in a tie.

The Sanroman brothers each had two hits and the team stole 11 bases.

The 16U Lakers host a doubleheader with Whitman at 3 p.m. next Tuesday at Pine Street Field.
