Terry, Story named MVPs for Sandpoint tennis

SANDPOINT — Denali Terry and Christian Story were named MVPs for the Sandpoint tennis team during the end-of-season awards banquet held recently.

Head coach Kent Anderson said the two players represent all the qualities younger players should strive for.

Olivia Petruso and Josh Embree both received Outstanding Athlete awards for being an inspiration on and off the tennis court and performing in the clutch. Josh Jessen earned the Scholar-Athlete award.

The 2022 team captains were also announced. Terry, Petruso and Maile Evans will captain the girls team. Tyler Korn, Owen Larson, Evan Wiley and Aden Heitz will lead the boys team.

"Our team is very motivated and has been working hard on the courts ever since districts," Anderson wrote in an email. "2022 can’t come soon enough."

BOYS

No. 1 Singles Player award — Charlie Johnson

Bulldog MVP — Christian Story

Most Improved — Aden Heitz

Leadership award — Josh Jessen

Rookie of the Year — Evan Wiley

Ace award — Tyler Korn

Spirit award — Tyler McNamee

GIRLS

No. 1 Singles Player award — Neva Reseska

Bulldog MVP — Denali Terry

Most Improved — Maisie Brazill, Adrian Doty

Leadership award — Kailee McNamee

Rookie of the Year — Patch Howard

Ace award — Berkeley Cox

Spirit award — Maile Evans
