PRIEST RIVER — A Bonner County man suffered non-life-threatening injuries Sunday evening after he was shot by someone who asked to use the phone.

BCSO officials said Arthur Neal Leen was shot after an unidentified male asked to use the phone. The shooting appears to be unprovoked at this time, according to Bonner County Sheriff’s Office officials.

Bonner County law enforcement responded to the scene after Leen’s wife called saying that her husband had just been shot by an unknown male at their home on Dufort Road in Priest River on Sunday.

Bonner County Sheriff's deputies and Priest River Police Officers were dispatched to the 17000 block of Dufort Road in Priest River at about 6:01 p.m. on Sunday. Officials remained at the scene until 3 a.m.

Bonner County Sheriff's Office officials said the suspect is armed and dangerous. The individual is described as a white male, 35-40 years old. He was wearing a white tank top, shorts and a baseball cap. The suspect was driving what the caller reported as a “primer grey” color, single-cab, short-bed pickup truck and was last seen driving westbound on Dufort Road near Priest River bridge.

Leen’s wounds are not life-threatening. He was transported to Newport Hospital, and then to Providence Sacred Heart for treatment and recovery. As of Monday evening, Sacred Heart reports Leen as being in stable condition.
