Grace L. Morris- Carter, 92

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Grace L. Morris- Carter, 92, announces her passing on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Private family services have been held.

Grace was born on August 19, 1928, in Gering, Nebraska, to James and Ruth Morris. The Morris family purchase property in Sagle, Idaho, where Grace grew up and attended school. Grace graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1946. She then attended Kinman's Business College in Spokane, Washington, and later worked for the Selective Service and Farm & Home Administration in Sandpoint.

Grace married Melvin Carter of Clark Fork, Idaho, on August 14, 1954, became a devoted wife and started their family. The family followed the construction industry settling in Snohomish, Washington, in 1964 where Grace raised her girls and then worked for the Lake Stevens Sewer District until she retired in 1990.

In her retirement years, Grace and Mel moved back to Clark Fork, where they spent summers fishing with friends and winters in Arizona and traveling in their RV.

Grace was active in the Clark Fork United Methodist Church and a member of the Clark Fork Homemakers. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, sewing, traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three daughters, Donna O’Connor, Melinda Locke and Patty Jo Carter; four grandchildren, Stacy Dammann, Luke Jackson, Kelsi O’Connor and Jackie Haines; three great-grandchildren, Jackson and Alyssa Dammann and Cole Collins; two sisters, Mary Buss and Marge Leniger; and a favorite nephew, Robert Shattuck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mel, sister Hazel Shattuck and cousin Chuck Schoonover.
