Field's third phase underway

Construction on the third phase of War Memorial Field is underway.

The third phase includes the expansion of the parking lot and additional landscape/lighting and boat trailer parking, replacement of the boat ramp and the addition of a permanent restroom, non-motorized launch, boat wash station and ADA walkway to the waterfront.

Sandpoint officials said the parking lot will be closed during the construction period. In addition, parking will also be restricted between the two driveway entrances on Ontario.

The newly constructed parking lot and launch will open May 28th for Memorial Day Weekend.

Sandpoint City Administrator Jennifer Stapleton said the city also received preliminary notice Monday that it had received a grant award to fund the new boat docks early next year. Construction is expected to occur before the 2022 boating season.
