March 28, 1971 – PROUDLY WE SALUTE…

Vicki Ann Verwolf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Verwolf, Rte. 2, Sandpoint, will report to the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill., for Hospital Corps School, after a 14-day leave with her family. The local WAVE graduated from Recruit Training Command (Women) Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, Md., Mar. 12 after 10 weeks of basic training.

Judith Marie Evans completed 10 weeks basic training at Recruit Training Command (Women), Naval Training Ctr. Bainbridge, Md., graduating Mar. 12 during a military review. Miss Evans will spend a 14-day leave with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Evans, Rte. 1, Sandpoint, before reporting back to Bainbridge for Yeoman School.

Both enlisted for 3-year terms on Dec. 28, 1970.

RUTH ELLEN HAND WED LARRY TEVES

Ruth Ellen Hand and Larry Dean Teves were wed in the First Church of the Nazarene, Pixley, Calif. and are residing in Colorado Springs, Colo. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Grace Hand, San Jose, Calif. and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shadel, Selle. She attended Bonner county grade schools and was active in 4-H before moving to Visalia, Calif. in 1966, where she graduated from high school and earned an associate degree from College of the Sequoias. The groom, the son of Mrs. Eathel Teves, Pixley, is stationed with the Army at Ft. Carson, Colo.

March 28, 1921 – NO HIGH SCHOOL IN SIGHT

Though Friday’s school board meeting lasted until midnight they were no nearer an agreement on any plan for the future than when it started. The bond market is off again and the board sees no possibility of putting up a high school building this year. There may yet be a favorable change in the bond market and a drop in building materials may be such as to give encouragement to the board in a month or two, but prospects now are that no building will be put up for another year.

W.R.C. ACTIVE

The regular social meeting of the Woman’s Relief Corps of Sandpoint was held at the G.A.R. hall (4th & Alder) Friday, when 61 members and a visitor celebrated the birthday of 10 members. Seven new members were initiated. Sandwiches, pickles, birthday cake and coffee were served, with Easter baskets presented as birthday gifts.

CLEAN-UP WEEK PROCLAMATION

To all citizens of Sandpoint and all residents therein: I, J.E. Elliott, mayor of the city of Sandpoint, Idaho, do hereby proclaim the week beginning April 4, 1920, (sic) as “cleanup” week, and direct all persons owning or in charge of any premises within the limits of said city to put forth every effort to put same in order during the said week.
