WSU Master gardeners offer virtual microgreens, sprouts class

| May 5, 2021 1:00 AM

Washington State University Master Gardeners are offering a Zoom class on growing microgreens and sprouts, on Thursday, May 13, from 6:30-8 p.m.

The class will be taught by Master Gardener Jane Bolz. Microgreens are very expensive because of the sheer amount of nutrients in them. The amount of nutrients in microgreens can vary from two to 40 times the nutrients you will find in the fully grown plant. In this class participants will learn how to grow their own microgreens and find out why some people call them a superfood. The class fee is $5 ($3 for MGs) and can be paid by check or money order.

Anyone with a computer or smart phone and internet access will be able to attend the class by calling or emailing program coordinator Beverly Sarles to register. Those who are registered will receive an email, a day before the class, with the Zoom link and directions on how to access the presentation.

The class will be interactive so participants will be able to make comments and ask questions. Even if participants do not have a camera and microphone on their computers, they can view the class and ask questions by typing them into a chat box.

In order to register for the class, so you can receive the Zoom link and learn where to send the class fee, contact Sarles, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at 509-447-2401 or email anytime at beverly.sarles@wsu.edu.
