Spartans crushed by top-seeded Tigers, head to Kellogg on Thursday for loser-out game

SPIRIT LAKE — No. 1 seed Timberlake stormed past No. 4 seed Priest River 36-0 in the first round of the 3A District 1 softball tournament on Tuesday.

The Spartans (1-21) will now head to Kellogg at 4 p.m. Thursday to play in the district loser-out game. With a win, Priest River would face the loser of the district title game between Timberlake and Bonners Ferry on Friday for a chance to advance to state. A loss against the Wildcats would end the Spartans season.

Timberlake scored 21 runs in the first inning of Tuesday's game and racked up 23 hits.

Jaylein Zylstra, Brodie Hansen and Kailee Davis had hits for Priest River.
