Pelkey, Brown earn all-league honors

SANDPOINT — A pair of Bulldogs were named to the 4A IEL all-league volleyball team.

Seniors Tori Pelkey and Emma Brown received spots on the team that was released to the media Monday.

Pelkey was a force at middle blocker for the Bulldogs this fall and led the team in kills most nights. Karen Alsager started her second stint as head coach back in 2019 and had a chance to coach Pelkey on varsity for three years. She said Pelkey is extremely coachable and has a bright future.

"I was able to see her grow and mature from a sophomore on varsity to being our score leader her senior year," Alsager said. "Tori will be playing collegiate ball after [high school] and I'm sure she will do excellent."

At libero, Brown was constantly diving on the floor for digs. Her presence on the back row will be missed, Alsager said.

"Emma provided most of our ball control for the season, allowing Tori to get set a lot," Alsager said. "The middles don't get to hit unless the pass is close to perfect, and Emma did that for us. She also was a great server. We could rely on her consistency from the back row every night and from the service line. She will be very hard to replace."
