4 Spartans garner Intermountain League honors

| November 3, 2021 1:00 AM

PRIEST RIVER — Four Spartans recently received 3A Intermountain League honors for their play this fall.

Elisheva Davis, Shane Gamber, Luke Butler and Ona Rose were all named to IML all-league teams in their respective sports.

Davis started on the backline for the Priest River girls soccer team this season. Head coach Rob Lawler said the junior made countless key plays defensively and was instrumental in the program's continued growth.

"Elisheva stepped up big this season in being a leader," he said. "She was a key element in rebuilding a strong defense after graduating all of our defenders from last year. As a captain, Elisheva took on responsibilities for team communication and did a remarkable job being the go-between on matters from players and parents to the coach."

Rose earned a spot on the all-league volleyball team. The senior opposite hitter led Priest River in kills and digs this season.

"She was a strong leader on the floor this year," head coach Meagan Mize said, "and played at 100% no matter the scenario. She's got a great knack for reading the ball and getting to some of the plays that you think are dead. That girl has had more pancake saves than anyone I've seen."

Gamber, a senior, and Butler, a junior, were both key pieces on the boys soccer team. Gamber was a force on attack for the Spartans and Butler held things down between the pipes at goalkeeper.
