| November 6, 2021 1:00 AM

Ryan James Moore, 46, passed away November 2, 2021 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, following a brief illness.

Ryan was born April 26, 1975, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Robert and Jan Moore. He attended several local elementary schools, graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1993. During his sophomore year at SHS, Ryan met the love of his life, Shana Emory. He continued his education at North Idaho College, graduating in 1996.

Ryan and Shana were married in Sandpoint on September 6, 1997, on the sixth anniversary of their first date.

Ryan went to work for GTE in 1997, joining his dad and uncle in the telecommunications industry. He and Shana moved to Moscow, Idaho later the following year when GTE relocated Ryan’s job. In December of 1998, they welcomed their daughter, Olivia. Ryan transferred back to Sandpoint three years later, bringing his family back to their hometown and purchasing their first home. In March of 2001, they welcomed their son, Tyler, and their family was complete.

Ryan advanced through the ranks at work as GTE became Verizon, then Frontier Communications, and lastly Ziply Fiber. Ryan took pride in working overtime and getting called out at all hours during storms, while never complaining. He loved his job and his co-workers, and they loved him. His incredible work ethic, and willingness to go the extra mile for everyone endeared him to many, especially customers.

Ryan also loved sports and was a talented, well-rounded athlete. He played baseball, basketball, and wrestled. Most of all, Ryan enjoyed his high school years playing soccer and football. As a father to two talented athletes, Ryan also enjoyed coaching both Olivia and Tyler in soccer for several years. He was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, donning his lucky Chiefs sweatshirt every time they played. He also enjoyed playing golf, especially in the annual Elks golf tournament to honor his grandfather, Bobby Moore. When Ryan wasn’t busy playing or coaching in various sports, he enjoyed timing the Sandpoint High School football and basketball games alongside his dad, Robert Moore.

Ryan's other great love was the outdoors. He hiked, fished, hunted, and went shed hunting as often as he could, often taking along his children, nieces, and nephews. He instilled the love of hunting and fishing in both of his children.

Family meant more to Ryan than anything. Shana and the kids were always Ryan’s first priority, but he loved his brother and sisters immensely. He was the third of six children. Having four sisters, Ryan was always kept on his toes. He mourned the loss of his only brother, always wishing for more time with him. He loved the larger family gatherings that also included his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family was very important to him and nothing made him happier than spending time with them. But for Ryan, family is more than blood. He cared for many people that made them more than just a friend, this also included his work family. They were just as precious to him. And the feeling was mutual. Ryan never met a stranger. He had a smile for everyone.

A friend sent a loving message that summed Ryan up the best saying, “I always wondered how Ryan could be so amazing and kind. It is clear now, that he was an angel masquerading as one of us.”

Ryan was preceded in death by his brother, Nick; his grandparents, Ralph "Dude" and Fran Sletager, Robert "Bobby" Moore and Beth Critchell; and his aunt, Lynn (Sletager) Wild. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Shana; his daughter, Olivia; son, Tyler; father, Robert (Kathy) Moore; mother, Jan (Gary Elvester) Sletager; sisters, Dani (Brian) Jorgensen, Alicia Moore, Lacey (Matt) Lindgren, and Megan (Seth) Jackson;, father- and mother-in-law, Tom and Gina Emory; brothers-in-law, Tom (Shannon) Emory and Jonathan (Terra Hetland) Emory; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend. His legacy will live on in his children but also in our memories. The family is grateful for all your prayers and thoughts as they mourn their profound loss and rejoice that they were so incredibly blessed to have had him and their memories of him. Ryan loved the Lord, so we rest assured in the knowledge that we will be together again for eternity.

A celebration of Ryan's life will be held at North Summit Church on Saturday, Nov. 13 at noon. Viewing will be held Friday, Nov. 12 from 2-5 pm at Coffelt Funeral Home.
