Ruth Kohler, 100, passed away in Sandpoint on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.

Private family services will be held with burial in Pinecrest Memorial Park. A celebration of life for the centenarian will be held in the spring.

Ruth was born, at home in Kootenai, Idaho, on October 9, 1921, and would live in the family home for more than 99 years. She attended local schools and would walk the railroad track to go to high school. She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1940. On August 9, 1941, she would marry William “Bill” Kohler in Naples, Idaho, just before he shipped out for World War II.

When Bill returned from the war, she applied for a position at the post office and ended up serving as post mistress for over 50 years. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitching and making blankets for her family and friends. She enjoyed her yard, her flowers, raising a big garden and canning the produce.

She is survived by her three daughters, Coyla Ward in Sandpoint, Gail Watkins in Redding, California, and Vicki Rollins in Cataldo, Idaho. Also surviving are six grandsons, Tim, Brian, David, Danny, Richie, and Randy; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; a brother and a sister.
