Bulldog cross country competes in Post Falls River Run

POST FALLS — Four Sandpoint cross country runners medaled at the Post Falls River Run on Thursday at Q'emlin Park.

The course was shortened to 1.8 miles, and the race was separated by class — freshman, sophomore, junior and senior. The top five runners in each race medaled and no team scores were kept. Due to low numbers, a freshman-sophomore race and junior-senior race were ran for the girls.

Slate Fragoso finished first in the junior race for the boys with a time of 9:51. Ben Ricks took home first in the senior race, edging out Moscow's Emmett Brooks by five tenths of a second. Nathan Roche was second in the sophomore race.

Ara Clark captured fourth in the junior-senior race for the girls with an 11:22.

"Excellent opportunity to check out Moscow and Lakeland early in the season," girls cross country coach Angie Brass said. "Always an interesting format when varsity and JV are not ran in the usual format. It gives a chance to see where strengths and weaknesses are when some of the packs are broken up."

"The boys handled a lot of pressure from a good Moscow team in each race," boys cross country coach Matt Brass said. "The team looked good today and I'm happy with the results."

The Bulldogs head to the Timberlake Invitational at Farragut State Park on Saturday, Sept. 11.
