MickDuff’s Beer Hall hosting fall cornhole tournament

SANDPOINT — MickDuff’s Beer Hall is hosting its 7th annual fall cornhole tournament next week, beginning Thursday, Sept. 9, and continuing through Saturday, Sept. 11.

The event, also presented by Mountain West Bank, was formerly known as the Inland Northwest Cornhole Championship. This year, the tournament is know as the Fall Sandbagger Open, which takes on a new format of cornhole in Sandpoint. Anyone can play, anyone can win and there’s a division for all skills of players.

Thursday, Sept 9 features the first of two social tournaments where participants do not need a partner and all skill levels are welcome. It’s a Switcholio tournament where you will be guaranteed a minimum of six games, which you will play with random partners. The cost is $20. 

Friday, Sept 10, brings the women's singles division at 12 p.m. in a double elimination tournament. The cost is $25. Open singles and senior singles at 1 p.m. in a double-elimination tournament for $25. Open and Senior Singles will get combined if not enough players in either. Finally, Friday night is capped off with a fun social tournament with the Crew Cup event where individuals will be randomly drawn to four-player teams, competing in an alternate shot double elimination tournament for $20. First toss is 6 p.m. Crew Cup is a totally for-fun tournament and everyone should feel welcome. 

Saturday, Sept 11, is the big show with two "bring your own partner" doubles tournaments. The "Backyarder Bracket" will start at 11 a.m., with four round robin games for qualifying, which will be used to seed into an upper and lower double elimination finals bracket. Cost for the Backyarder Bracket is $50 per team and up to 50% of cash and prizes to be paid out.

The Open tournament will start at noon and will consist of pool play qualifying before seeding into an upper and lower double elimination finals bracket. The cost for the Open is $100 per team and first place prize for the upper bracket is a guaranteed $1,000 and likely to exceed more than $3,000 in total cash prizes.  

All tournaments will have cash and prizes for top finishers.
