Sept. 7, 1971 – HAVILAND IS WHO’S WHO

Last week’s Mr. Who’s Who, Bill Haviland, was only one when he came to Bonner County with his parents in 1920. In the depression years, the family lived at Cabinet, where Bill went to school through his first year of high school. He finished high school at SHS after they moved. In the army for four years in WWII, he saw combat in Belgium, Holland, France and Germany. In 1945, he partnered with John Holzemer to operate the Shell Station at 5th and Pine. In 1957, they leased the Enco Station at 2nd and Cedar, which they still run. Over the years, Bill has been active in the community. His wife is secretary to Farmin School principal J.A. Naccarato. Daughter Julie and son Al attend ISU at Pocatello.

It is expected that a building will be purchased soon and be ready to care for 18 girls in about six weeks. FORD ANNOUNCES PRICE REDUCTION

According to a telegram received by City Garage, Ford Motor co. has made a substantial reduction in the price of all their models. Considering the higher freight rate and the war tax, and deducting costs of self-starter equipment and demountable rims, the price of a Ford touring car, f.o.b. Detroit, is $5 less than in 1916, the lowest price ever for a Ford car.
