LEWISTON — Sandpoint girls soccer improved to 6-0 in Inland Empire League play on Tuesday with a 2-0 victory at Lewiston.

The win allowed the Bulldogs, the No. 1 ranked team in 4A, to secure a season sweep of the Bengals. In their first matchup in Sandpoint on Aug. 28, the Bulldogs pulled out a thrilling 3-2 victory thanks to a late goal from Kylie Williams. On Tuesday, SHS earned a much more decisive win, outshooting Lewiston 25-7.

"Lewiston looks to play big diagonal balls early and our defenders and goalkeepers dealt with that near flawlessly," head coach Conor Baranski said. "I thought our defenders put in a really good shift. They had to chase down a lot of balls and they played it out safely to our midfielders who were finding our forwards. It was all around a quality display."

Sierrah VanGesen scored a goal in the 32nd minute and assisted on Piper Frank's in the 66th minute. Frank now has eight goals on the season.

"It's always hard coming off a three and a half hour bus trip, but the girls completed our game plan pretty well," Baranski said.

Freshman Lilliana Brinkmeier and junior Kameryn Nadeja combined to make three saves in net. Baranski said the Bulldogs had their chances to put a few more on the scoreboard, but the Lewiston keeper made some great saves.

Baranski said sophomore Hannah Harvey continued to step up and senior Kalila Tuinstra was a force in the backline.

"I thought Kalila Tuinstra's leadership today was pretty impressive," he said.

Sandpoint (7-0) will look to keep its undefeated record intact when they host Moscow at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at War Memorial Field.
